This week’s top story: The Federal Government announced that it will introduce “real needs-based funding” by committing an additional $18.6bn for Australia’s schools over the next decade starting from 2018. However, not everyone welcomed the news. Read more here.

In other news: A Gold Coast school was evacuated twice on Wednesday morning after a suspicious package was found on its grounds. Approximately 2,500 students attend the school, which is one of the largest on the Gold Coast. Read more here.
