Dr Paulina Stehlik has set out to help clinical staff in hospitals provide the best quality care by making top scientific evidence available to them and by getting them engaged in generating evidence via high quality research. In 2018, Stehlik led an extensive redesign of evidence-based practice (EBP) that was delivered to clinical staff at Gold Coast University Hospital. She has developed short workshops that are tailored to apply EBP principles to problems encountered in various clinical areas. The workshops, using small groups facilitated by trained tutors, allow participants to choose the clinical problem that best matches their principal challenges. Stehlik has also developed a participant-owned professional EBP e-Portfolio which contains resources such as summaries, workshop materials and eBook links. To complement her workshops, Stehlik delivers short, interactive lectures on EBP, knowledge translation and research. Her “engaging personality, enthusiasm and innovative teaching” have been a major factor in the success of her teaching program. In 2019 alone, she trained over 400 clinical, research and support staff.
