Ex-Singapore school leader joins global GEMS team

GEMS Education has appointed Peter Derby-Crook MBE as an education vice president to lead its portfolio of mid-size British schools, as the school network continues to strengthen its senior leadership team.

Derby-Crook, an education veteran, will bring many years of educational experience to the GEMS Education community based on his impressive track record in leading premium schools in Southeast Asia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the UK.

GEMS World Academy in Singapore is one of the international schools under the GEMS Education brand.

He brings over 30 years of experience and as Principal and CEO, where he led the Singapore Tanglin Trust three-in-one school. Previously, he has held leadership roles at schools in London, Manchester, Jakarta, Tokyo, Dubai and Oman.

He has also been an international schools’ accreditor, responsible for teaching and learning standards in many high-quality institutions around the world. He has significant experience of ‘A’ levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

An accomplished speaker and motivator, he has presented TEDx talks and is also a member of the World IB Heads' Council.

Derby-Crook joins the education team, led by CEO Sir Christopher Stone, for the 2018-19 academic year and is based at GEMS Education headquarters in Dubai, UAE.
