Prospect North Primary School

PNPS is a hive of learning with students tracking and monitoring their progress with staff. Students learn best when they are in control of and understand the learning process, learning through solving real world problems means students lead and contribute at every level of school and drive community partnerships for the benefit of all learners.

For PNPS, having the structures and scaffolds in place to allow students agency in their learning has led to improved wellbeing, attainment and attendance. Unlocking the learning for students, teaching them how to learn and be successful has set alight their passion and drive for improvement. Through innovative learning spaces and systems our students set their learning goals and work towards achieving them through real world immersion and small targeted teaching workshops. Students run conferences for other students from neighbouring schools and states and have presented to over 500 adults on how to increase student agency in learning through innovative learning and STEM practices. For a disadvantaged school this has meant opportunities for targeted groups eg girls, EALD, Indigenous students to become confident speakers, role models and high level STEM learners and teachers. Student agency is embedded in every process across the school including our nurture program which tracks and monitors wellbeing for each student and family.
