Australia's Employer of Choice 2021 winners revealed

Australia

The report cards are in – and The Educator is delighted to announce the 25 schools from across the country that have earned the title ‘Employer of Choice’ for 2021. Our winners overcame the myriad challenges the past year has thrown at Australia’s schools – intense workloads, long hours, COVID, remote learning, student health and wellbeing, admin and red tape – to provide a positive working environment for their employees. This stellar support for staff and students was evidenced by hard data in the many submissions we received that revealed high rates of tenure and employee engagement.

Schools had their employees’ back in a number of areas: providing structures to support new teachers; a raft of initiatives to safeguard mental and physical wellbeing; regular debriefs to ensure staff are listened to, and to lighten their emotional/mental load; learning opportunities to develop employees throughout their career; opportunities to develop leadership skills; dedication to innovation and technology and supporting staff in use of new technologies and teaching tools; and allowing teachers to fully focus on students by streamlining administrative tasks and/or delegating them to non-teaching staff where possible.

Spanning public, independent and Catholic schools, our winners included: The Knox School, St Paul’s Lutheran Primary School, Korowa Anglican Girls’ School, Brigidine College, and Caroline Chisholm Catholic College.
