Innovative Schools standing out at the inaugural Australian Education Awards

The Educator is seeking nominations for the Innovative Schools Report, an annual showcase of schools that are thinking outside the box to enhance learning outcomes and the student experience.

Several of the outstanding schools featured in last year’s Report have now gone on to be finalists for the inaugural Australian Education Awards.

For example, Bethany Lutheran Primary School was commended for its agile learning spaces and collaborative teaching style which sees all classes in a single year share a space. They now find themselves shortlisted for the Innovation in Learning Environment Design, Innovation in Curriculum Design and Best Professional Learning Program categories.

Other finalists who were featured on the 2017 Innovative Schools Report include Melbourne Girls Grammar, Revesby Public School, Ormiston College and Snowy Mountains Grammar School. These schools impressed with their creativity and willingness to push boundaries in areas ranging from student wellbeing and inclusiveness, to cutting-edge STEM education and thrilling extra-curricular. The qualities that put them above the crowd in the Report have made them strong contenders in the upcoming awards.

The winners of the Australian Education Awards will be announced on Friday 17 August at Dockside Sydney.

Those featured in this year’s Report are predicted to do well in next year’s awards. Submissions for the 2018 Innovative Schools are still ongoing and educators are encouraged to submit an entry before Friday 22 June.
