ACC Victoria appoints its first executive principal as campus network grows

Australian Christian College (ACC) has appointed Christine Lucas as its inaugural executive principal of ACC Victoria. This was announced in June 2026 as the organisation's Victorian school network continues to expand.

The position will oversee leadership across the organisation's Victorian campuses, including its growing online school.

ACC Victoria now operates five campuses: ACC Benalla, ACC Casey, ACC Echuca, ACC Swan Hill, and ACC Victoria Online. The virtual campus opened in February 2025 and forms part of ACC’s wider distance education network.

The appointment places Lucas in a system-wide role focused on coordination, leadership support for principals, and school improvement across the Victorian network.

A leader with broad experience across sectors

“Christine is a highly respected leader with deep experience in Christian education. She brings vision, experience and a passion for empowering both staff and students. With her leadership, we are confident ACC Victoria will continue to thrive and continue to grow,” said Peter Bromhead, ACC state executive officer in Victoria.

Lucas was most recently head of school services at Independent Schools Victoria, where she supported more than 230 schools. The role covered several areas central to independent school operations, including employment relations, school improvement, professional learning, school advisory support, compliance, student services, and policy.

Her career has also included leadership roles in schools and government education. She has worked as a principal and campus principal, and held senior roles in government education, including as lead Commonwealth director in the establishment of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).

Governance and sector contribution

Lucas has also contributed to sector governance. She has served as the independent school sector representative on the board of the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership and as a member of its Audit and Risk Committee.

Her wider work has included innovative approaches to teacher education, Indigenous education in Australian schools, governance, and school leadership development.

Speaking about her appointment, Lucas said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the inaugural Executive Principal of Australian Christian College Victoria. I am thriving on the opportunity to work alongside the leadership teams across our campuses to support, encourage and strengthen our communities, and to see every student flourish in their faith and learning.”

The leadership appointment comes as ACC continues to develop its Victorian online offering. ACC Victoria Online launched with Years 5 to 10, with the school indicating plans to add Year 11 in 2026 and Year 12 in 2027, subject to approvals.

The school has also said it intends to add more primary year levels in 2026. Victoria’s school regulator lists ACC Victoria as an independent, co-educational Prep to Year 12 provider, with VCE approval listed through to 2029.
