Teachers get chance to win a trip to Las Vegas

The summer break may be over, but two lucky teachers will soon get another holiday.

The NRL is offering all 2024 NRL School Ambassadors the chance to win a trip to Las Vegas to visit schools ahead of the Telstra Premiership doubleheader at Allegiant Stadium in March.

Former Marsden State High School principal Andrew Peach knows the value of knowledge sharing well. Peach, who is now the General Manager of School Participation at National Rugby League Ltd, has participated in several peer-shadowing programs in the past that he says have given him crucial insight into how different teaching and leadership strategies work and can be implemented.

“The NRL values teachers and schools across Australia. We recognise the amazing work that occurs in our schools and understand the important role teachers and schools play in helping to shape our community,” Peach told The Educator.

“Rugby League has always been a game with the community at the heart of everything it does and so working to support schools and teachers is a great fit for us.”

Peach said in the current environment where teachers and schools are increasingly challenged to do more, the NRL sees its role in helping to ease the load by providing resources and support, and to bring rewards and opportunities to schools for staff and students alike.

“Connecting with schools in Las Vegas will be a great learning experience for the winners, and we are really grateful for the wonderful support from Struddys Sports to sponsor this amazing opportunity,” he said.

“School staff love to see what is happening in other schools, and connecting with educators internationally brings a new perspective to our work.”

Peach said the opportunity to connect with schools in different countries with different systems and processes is always an exciting prospect for educators.

“The chance for school staff to visit schools in Las Vegas, to learn about their approach and to bring that knowledge back to Australia is something that we’re really proud to be able to support at the NRL,” he said.

“Our NRL School Ambassador Program aims to provide support for all staff in all schools and this is just one of the exciting opportunities available in 2024.”

School staff can register for the Las Vegas Professional Learning Tour opportunity before midday on Tuesday February 6th, or throughout the year with the NRL School Ambassador Program by clicking on this link.
